JoJo tank installation

Back-up water systems and water preservation tanks.

Replacement of a burst geyser.

Should you be lucky enough to ever experience this, you will also know, that when a geyser bursts, its normally at the most unexpected times. Should your geyser burst after hours, we will gladly come and isolate the problem until we are able to replace it the next morning or within an agreed time. We have teams that are on call 24/7 for you to utilise.

A burst geyser can be caused by a number of contributing factors namely; power interruptions, power surges, pre-existing non-compliance's, corrosion of the inner cylinder, general wear and tear as a result of old age.
Common brands for replacement are: Heattech/Ariston Thermo and Kwikot/Electrolux.

Result in damages from burst geysers

Burst geysers can result in various water damages to your property. The most common affected items are:

  • Cupboards

  • Ceilings

  • Walls

  • Electronics

  • Flooring

Element, thermostat and gasket

These 3 musketeers work hand in hand. More often than not, you will need to replace all 3 (element, thermostat and gasket) in one go.

  • An element’s main function is to heat the geyser up. Without an element there will be no hot water generation. Very rarely will the element need to be replaced on its own.

  • A thermostat is triggered by the rise in temperature as a result of the element heating up the water.  A thermostat behaves like a coordinator for the element, telling it what to do and when. Once the water has reached its set temperature, the thermostat will switch the element off. If the water is too cold and not meeting the desired temperature, the thermostat will turn the element back on to start heating up the water again.

  • A gasket is made to seal the parts between the geyser and the element. The gasket fills up all the openings and spaces of the flange to create a cork like seal, which is there to keep in liquids like water or gas. In this case, the liquid is the hot water from the inner geyser cylinder.

Blocked Drains

A blocked drain is when an obstruction or mass causes the movement of water in a sewerage pipe to flow slowly or blocks it up so that it cannot flow at all. Blocked drains can be caused by multiple obstructions. Our teams are trained and equipped with rotor drain cleaning equipment to handle this for you. We can attend to any type of blockage you may face: a blocked drain, sewer line, waste lines, gully’s, shower drains, toilets, urinals, stormwater drains and kitchen sinks.

Burst pipes

A pipe bursts when a certain point in the pipe line is weak or becomes compromised and cannot withstand the pressure of the water flowing through it. Thus, resulting in a burst, in that specific section or multiple sections of the pipeline.
Weak points or compromised points can be a caused by expansion and contraction of pipes as a result of very cold temperatures, unstable or faulty pressure control valves, old age and corrosion, expansion from tree roots, compromised structural integrity and very rarely earth movement.

Pipe location

Finding a faulty pipe is key when trying to solve your plumbing issues. Most pipes are chased into the wall or laid in foundations or underground. The idea is not to have them too close to the surface to allow any pipe to get damaged easily. Our teams are trained and are fitted with pipe location equipped to find your pipe and fix the problem.

Pressure control valves

The purpose of a pressure control valve is used to regulate measured pressure in a water hydraulic system. While at the same time keeping the pressure of the water below a safe limit.
Common brands are: Kwikot/Electrolux, Apex, Califi and Cobra.

Taps and traps

Every plumbing vessel (basins, sinks, baths) require an inlet point – the tap and an outlet point – the trap.
Taps allow the water to flow in and traps allow the water to flow out.
Common brands are: Cobra, Isca, Tivoli, Plumbline, Hans Grohe etc.

Drainage and venting systems

Drainage serves the purpose of natural or artificial movement of water in a sewerage system. Plumbing vents or vent valves are when multiple waste distribution pipes leading to the outside of your property require vents. Vents are there to release sewer gases outside of the house instead of inside of the house. Vents also allow for oxygen to enter the drainage system resulting in sewer digestion, and to discourage noxious fermentative decomposition. Vents also create a way for pressure to equalise at both ends of a trap.

Sewerage systems and septic tanks

The purpose of a sewerage systems is to transport waste safely to a wate treatment facility.
Septic tanks allow waste to part into three layers: solids, effluent and sludge. The solid waste will settle to the bottom, thereafter microorganisms will decompose it.  The middle layer of effluent leaves the tank space and moves through underground vented pipes into the drainage field. The sludge falls to the bottom and will eventually need to be cleaned out.

Installation of washing machines and dishwashers

A water inlet is required for your dishwasher and washing machine. A plumber is required to install or connect the inlet for you.

Replacements, new installations, leaks, seals

Common replacements and new installations are:

  • Toilets

  • Showers

  • Baths

  • Basins

  • Showers

A bathroom and kitchen are a requirement in any home and work area. Bathrooms and kitchens are one of the key selling and buying points in any home. Re-rooting of pipes in walls and underground.

When do you need to reroute water lines and pipes?

Obstructions.

Sometimes you may be faced with unforeseen obstructions on or around a pipe that cause issues to the flow of water or waste in your system. For example: if a pipe is blocked with roots it may need to be re-routed away from the tree causing the damage. Another example is when pipes have been laid under a driveway closer to the surface than what it should be, you will experience collapsed pipes or drains and you may need to re-route them to a safer position.

Multiple repairs have taken place.

More often than not, as a consumer you may choose to repair the breaches or damages individually on your pipeline. This can only hold for a short period of time, before you will need to re-route your pipes or replace them to avoid further damages.

Recurrent blockages.

This can be caused by many factors but a slope in the pipe line can also be contributing to blockages and therefore re-routing is highly recommended.

Reduction in flow distance.

Distribution of water and waste can sometimes be impacted by the lengthily distance that the water or waste needs to travel from point A to point B. Re-routing pipes can rectify this problem in some cases.

Compliance's, qualifications and registrations.

  • Red Seal Qualification Certificate for Plumbing.

  • Registered as a Licensed Plumber at PIRB (can sign COC’s).

  • Solar Geyser installation training and qualification preparation.
